2019 SUMMER SESSION

July, 2019

We've already started planning ahead!  We hope those plans include you. Until then have a great school year.

The GTA's All-HipHop Children's Program

Kids love HipHop. Facts.  Camp Wildstyle is a safe space for boys and girls to learn the 5 elements of HipHop and build skills for life and leadership. Kids aged 7-12 will learn from professional artists, the crafts of rapping, break dancing, beat boxing, street art and knowledge.

Our goal is to build character and strengthen our communities - starting with the next generation.   We begin with the lost art of practice.  Practice leads to persistence, discipline and success which leads to confidence.  Peers cheer each other on as each group reflects the dynamics of our communities.  Its in this environment that we seek to instil life lessons that will shape the behaviours and maybe even the careers of our children.

BTW - Our playlist is kid-friendly and curated to emphasize positive relationships in line with our philosophies.

OUR PROGRAMS

The Five Elements of HipHop

Home: Service

RAP & POETRY

Under the guidance of our resident male  & female MCs, campers receive the full experience of rocking the mic.  Our Camp Leaders help your child to unleash their creativity and conquer stage fright through interactive games, activities and challenges designed to nurture their inner voice.

DANCE

Over the course of 5 days, your daughter or son will enjoy the physicality of HipHop dancing.  "Fun" is the key word, and it will be the first word your child will use to describe their time popping & locking and breakin' to carefully curated tunes.  Our Camp Leaders are professional in every sense of the word and know how to get a party started.

STREET ART / GRAFFITI

"A picture can say a thousand words", that is why street art has become so important in our communities.  From buttons to posters, tags to murals, art gives the artist the power of speech.  Our leaders guide campers on ways to wield that power in responsible outlets that will beautify any space.

DJ'ING / MUSIC PRODUCTION

Bongos, beat boxing, breaks and 808 bass are all beautiful elements of the popular HipHop sound, known as "Boom Bap".  We are truly proud to offer children the opportunity to learn Boom Bap's three distinct skill sets of the element that started it all.  These skills are drumming, Dj'ing and producing, and lead by 3 talented leaders.

KNOWLEDGE

Leaders model and discuss the tenets of faith, love and leadership in terms that kids understand using everyday scenarios to discuss topics like bullying, mutual respect, empathy and equality.  With the teachings and example of Jesus as our reference point, leaders will open up a dialogue to chat about: God's creative work, and God's ability to empower us for good work in our community through the power of faith in Christ.

WHO WE ARE

Committed to Our Campers

At Camp Wildstyle, we are proud of our entire staff. We’re a combination of social service professionals, instructors and music lovers.  Staff members run special programs and carry out activities to help campers enjoy themselves and build their skills. All of us are fully prepared and trained to care for campers.

He is thrilled to share his knowledge and creativity with the youth at Camp Wild Style.

LE ROY BRIGGS

Camp Founder & Manager

As a married father of two, LeRoy has seen the influence of HipHop in the lives of HipHop's second generation of listeners.  It was during the many car rides to school that LeRoy and his sons talked about the roots of the culture and the people who made an impression on our community.  Music in general is a beautiful form of expression and worship, and HipHop specifically is a modern art form that reaches the masses through audio, visual and physical expression.  Based on Jesus' great commission, LeRoy hopes to promote positive expression and reach the masses through HipHop's early mantra of "Each one teach one".

You can be anything in the world, in God we trust
An architect, doctor, maybe an actress
But nothing comes easy it takes much practice
